Kangnam Jevisco Co., Ltd. (CEO Hwang Ik-jun, Kim Jae-hyun), a
leading eco-friendly paint company, will enter the secondary battery materials
business in cooperation with SHIN-A T&C Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Bong-Gu, Choi
Chun-Gu), a leading electronic materials company.
Based on the dispersion/mass production technology of Kangnam
Jevisco Co., Ltd. and the carbon nanotube (CNT) and graphene dispersion
technology of SHIN-A T&C, a joint venture company 'KS Advanced Materials
Co., Ltd.' will be established, and a production plant dedicated to conductive
materials and electrode additives for secondary batteries will be built in the
Haman plant of Kangnam Jevisco Co., Ltd. located in Haman, Gyeongsangnam-do.
The conductive material production plant, which is scheduled to be
completed by the end of 2023, plans to secure an annual production capacity of
2,000 tons in the first phase and increase the production capacity to 6,000
tons per year through additional facility investment. The new joint venture,
which will mass-produce anode MWCNT slurries for secondary batteries, cathode
TWCNT/SWCNT slurries, and SWCNT coating solutions for displays, has also
secured a new site for a second factory on the site of the Haman plant in order
to continue to expand its stable supply capacity for the rapidly growing
electric vehicle battery market.
On April 12, the two companies held a joint venture establishment
signing ceremony and founding board meeting at the Seoul business site of Kangnam
Jevisco Co., Ltd.
In order to successfully enter the secondary battery materials
business, KS Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. resolved to complete the construction
of a production plant at an early stage by consolidating the core competencies
of both companies and emerge as a new powerhouse in the secondary battery
materials market based on differentiated technology.
